Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a therapy session?

Typically, therapy sessions are 53-55 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences.

Longer sessions for EMDR and Art Therapy are offered upon request at a prorated rate.

What can I expect during our first session?

During your first session we will review your intake to better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process before we develop a personalized treatment plan to meet your goals.

What are your Out of Pocket fees for service?

First Intake Session (all services), $250

Individual Therapy, $200

EMDR Therapy. $225

Art Therapy, $250

EMDR Intensives:

EMDR Intensive Consultation (55 minutes)  $250

EMDR Intensive Sessions prorated based on time scheduled

Do you take insurance?

At this time, I accept:

  • Out of pocket payments (also known as "private pay")
  • payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) via debit
  • OHP
  • BCBS Regence (excluding Legacy Health Network)

If you have out-of-network coverage on your insurance plan (PPO), you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I can provide you with a billing statement, commonly known as a "superbill," which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement as an out-of-network provider.

Please note that all fees are due upfront, regardless of whether your insurance approves or denies your claim. It is your responsibility to verify your plan's coverage and understand their reimbursement process. You will be solely responsible for submitting the superbill for reimbursement. If you require a superbill, please let me know in advance so that I can prepare the necessary information.

It's important to be aware that using insurance for therapy requires the diagnosis of a mental illness, as it follows the insurance company's billing requirements. I understand that some individuals prefer not to involve insurance due to privacy concerns. If you have any questions or concerns about this matter, we can discuss it together to ensure you can make an informed decision that aligns with your needs and preferences.

Do you offer a sliding scale rate?

I understand that financial considerations can be a significant factor in seeking therapy. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots in my practice; however, these slots tend to fill up quickly. If you need some help figuring out what sliding scale rate you are comfortable affording, The Green Bottle Sliding Scale Tool from Worts and Cunning (with additions by Britt Hawthorne) may be a useful reference.

Due to legal and ethical reasons, if you request a superbill, I will not be able to provide a sliding scale rate for services.

Why do we need to have a consult call?

The process of finding a therapist can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it's important to find a provider who can create a safe and supportive space, meet your unique needs, and approach your treatment in a way that feels beneficial to you.

A consultation call serves as an opportunity for both of us to determine if we would be a good fit for working together. During this call, we can discuss the basics of what you're looking to address, share more about my approach as a clinician, and explore practical details such as scheduling and fees.
