Frequently Asked Questions

Are you providing in-person services?

I am only providing Telehealth (online, video chat therapy) at this time.

Do I need special apps or programs to use Telehealth?

Nope! A few minutes before our scheduled appointment you will receive an email with our session video link. All you need is a stable internet connection and a device (phone, tablet, computer) with a mic and camera.

How do I set up a safe space at home for Telehealth?

Ideally, you want to simulate an environment that is special and dedicated to your time in therapy.

Some recommendations that might enhance your comfort (but are not necessary) during session may include:

  • a white noise machine
  • a glass of water
  • tissues
  • headphones
  • comfortable seating (blankets, and pets are welcome!)
  • putting your phone on silent/do not disturb

How long is a therapy appointment?

Individual and Relationship Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.

EMDR therapy sessions are 80 minutes.

Intensive EMDR sessions will be negotiated during a 50 minute paid consultation.

What are your fees for service?

Individual Therapy - $180

EMDR Therapy Consultation- $250

EMDR Intensive- prorated based on time scheduled

Do you take insurance?

I operate as an out-of-network provider and do not directly accept insurance. However, I understand that some individuals may have Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) that can be used to cover therapy fees..

If you have out-of-network coverage on your insurance plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I can provide you with a billing statement, commonly known as a "superbill," which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement as an out-of-network provider.

Please note that all fees are due upfront, regardless of whether your insurance approves or denies your claim. It is your responsibility to verify your plan's coverage and understand their reimbursement process. You will be solely responsible for submitting the superbill for reimbursement. If you require a superbill, please let me know in advance so that I can prepare the necessary information.

It's important to be aware that using insurance for therapy requires the diagnosis of a mental illness, as it follows the insurance company's billing requirements. I understand that some individuals prefer not to involve insurance due to privacy concerns. If you have any questions or concerns about this matter, we can discuss it together to ensure you can make an informed decision that aligns with your needs and preferences.

Do you offer a sliding scale rate?

I understand that financial considerations can be a significant factor in seeking therapy. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots in my practice; however, these slots tend to fill up quickly.

During our initial consultation, please feel free to inquire about the possibility of a sliding scale fee. If I am able to accommodate your request, we will discuss and set the appropriate rate. After six months of service, we will revisit our fee agreement to ensure it remains suitable for both parties. In the event that I do not have sliding scale availability that fits your budget, I am more than happy to provide you with referrals to other resources or providers who may be a better match for your needs.

I understand that financial situations can change over time. If your financial circumstances change during the course of our treatment, please don't hesitate to inform me. I encourage my clients to advocate for their needs, including if they find themselves facing financial hardship. Similarly, I trust that my clients value the services provided and are honest about what they can afford. By being transparent about financial needs, we can open sliding scale slots for those with greater financial need, ensuring access to services for those who require it most.

Why do we need to have a consult call?

The process of finding a therapist can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it's important to find a provider who can create a safe and supportive space, meet your unique needs, and approach your treatment in a way that feels beneficial to you.

A consultation call serves as an opportunity for both of us to determine if we would be a good fit for working together. During this call, we can discuss the basics of what you're looking to address, share more about my approach as a clinician, and explore practical details such as scheduling and fees.
