Frequently Asked Questions

Are you providing in-person services?

I am only providing Telehealth (video chat) at this time.

Do I need special apps or programs to use Telehealth?

Nope! A few minutes before our scheduled appointment you will receive an email with our session video link. All you need is a stable internet connection and a device (phone, tablet, computer) with a mic and camera.

How do I set up a safe space at home for Telehealth?

Ideally, you want to simulate an environment that is special and dedicated to your time in therapy.

Some recommendations that might enhance your comfort (but are not necessary) during session may include:

  • a white noise machine
  • a glass of water
  • tissues
  • headphones
  • comfortable seating (blankets, and pets are welcome!)
  • putting your phone on silent/do not disturb

How long is a therapy appointment?

Individual and Relationship Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.

EMDR therapy sessions are 80 minutes.

Intensive EMDR sessions will be negotiated during a 50 minute paid consultation.

What are your fees for service?

Individual Therapy - $180

EMDR Therapy- $250

EMDR Intensive- prorated based on time scheduled

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. However, some HSAs and FSAs may be used to cover the fees for therapy.

If you have out of network coverage on your plan, I am able to provide a billing statement (called a "superbill"), and your insurance may cover a portion of the fee for an “out of network” provider.

You are responsible for all fees upfront, even if your insurance denies your claim.

You will need to verify your plan’s coverage and understand their process, as you will be solely responsible for submitting superbills for reimbursement. Please let me know if you will need this document, as it requires me to prepare the information in advance.

Some people prefer not to use insurance after they become aware that billing insurance companies requires the diagnosis of a mental illness. If you have questions about this, we can discuss that together so you can make the best decision for yourself.

Do you offer a sliding scale rate?

I do have a limited amount of sliding scale slots in my practice, however these slots fill up quickly.

During our initial consultation, please inquire if you are interested in a sliding scale fee. If I am able to accommodate a sliding scale rate, we will set the rate and then revisit our fee agreement after 6 months of service. If I do not have sliding scale availability that fits your budget, I am happy to refer you to other resources or providers that would be a better match for your needs.

If, during the course of treatment, your financial situation changes- please let me know. I trust my clients will advocate for their needs in treatment, including if they find themselves in financial hardship. Likewise, I trust my clients value my service and are truthful in what they can afford, so that sliding scale slots can be opened and I can provide those with greater financial need access to services.

Why do we need to have a consult call?

Finding a therapist can seem like a daunting task, and you deserve a provider who feels safe, can meet your needs, and is approaching your treatment from a way that feels beneficial to you.

A consultation call is meant to provide an opportunity for both of us to determine if we would be a good fit for services- it is an opportunity to share the basics about what you're looking to work on, to hear a bit more about how I work as a clinician,  and to discuss scheduling and fees for service.
